The Government has allocated Rs. 11,274,314.00 for this programme. The Welfare Benefits Board issued a statement stating that the Aswesuma allowance for May 2025 will be credited to bank accounts on 22-05-2025. Welfare Benefits Board chairman and commissioner Jayantha Wijerathne said the relevant funds have already been deposited into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.The Welfare benefits board announced that Aswesuma beneficiaries can receive their allowance for the month of May 2025.
The Statement also noted that payments reflecting the increased allowances, including the elderly allowance introduced under the 2025 budget, have commenced this month.
